Chemical intensive agriculture is killing our planet and contributing to world hunger. Due to corporate lobbying, big agriculture is the biggest obstacle to solving climate change.
Why is the federal government promoting industrializing land? Small scale farmers around the world are being pushed to increase in size and use chemicals produced in the United States. Seed companies want farmers to not save seeds for the next year but buy fresh seed every year. There is nothing sustainable about that.
Timothy A. Wise joins The Thom Hartmann Program to explain how big agriculture are promoting these policies. He directs the Land and Food Rights Program at Small Planet Institute. He also directed the Research and Policy Program at Tufts University’s Global Development and Environment Institute.
